The Faculty of Medicine at Gulu University was opened in 2004 with support from the Italian Government, through Italian Corporation. The faculty is mandated to train human resources in the health sciences at both undergraduate and graduate levels, conduct health related research and community outreach services for healthcare promotion and disease prevention.

The faculty started with 13 departments, namely Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Pathology, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Pharmacy, Paediatrics and Child Health, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Reproductive Health, Mental Health, and Public Health. Currently, there are 64 academic staff, 24 administrative and support staff, and 489 students enrolled in various programmes. Read More
