Dr. Fredrick Bongomin Okello

Dr. Fredrick Bongomin Okello (MBChB, MMed Internal Medicine) is an Associate Consultant Physician and Teaching Assistant in the Department of Internal Medicine at Gulu University. He provides clinical care across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and critical care settings, with special interests in infectious diseases,cardiology, emergency and critical care medicine. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education through bedside teaching, tutorials, and clinical assessment, and is committed to the supervision and mentorship of medical interns and junior doctors at Gulu University and its teaching hospitals. Dr. Bongomin is also engaged in medical research focused on improving patient outcomes and advancing evidence-based healthcare delivery in resource-limited settings.

1. Infectious diseases, particularly Antimicrobial Stewardship in resource limited settings

2. Non communicable diseases with a focus on cardiovascular diseases, onconephrology and other non-communicable diseases and their integration into primary care and others.

3. Medical research in cancers, chronic kidney diseases

4. Medical education, developing effective clinical teaching methods and mentorship models for medical students and residents

5. Health systems strengthening, improving chronic disease prevention and care delivery

6. Quality improvement research using data to enhance patient outcomes in internal medicine
