Welcome Message

The Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies (IPSS) of Gulu University was founded in 2007 at a critical turn in northern Uganda when a cessation of hostilities agreement was in place and formally internally displaced communities had begun to return home. IPSS is strategically placed to lead in research, publications, collaborations and community engagement in the areas of peacebuilding, peace education, transitional justice, gender studies, human rights, refugees, migrations and conflict transformation.
