Research Interests
Dr. Opee Jimmyy’s research interests focus on improving maternal, reproductive, and public health outcomes through clinical research, health systems strengthening, and innovative medical education approaches. His work is particularly centered on low-resource and post-conflict settings in Northern Uganda and similar contexts in sub-Saharan Africa.
Maternal and reproductive health: His research in maternal and reproductive health emphasizes maternal morbidity and mortality, post-abortion care, family planning, obstetric emergencies, reproductive health service delivery, and access to quality maternal healthcare. He is interested in developing evidence-based interventions that improve women’s health outcomes and strengthen reproductive healthcare systems.
Public health and health systems research: In public health and health systems research, his interests include healthcare access and utilization, referral systems, health workforce capacity, community-based interventions, and implementation research aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of healthcare delivery. He is also interested in epidemiological studies addressing infectious diseases and their impact on maternal and child health.
Medical education and simulation-based training: Dr. Opee is equally passionate about medical education and simulation-based training, with a focus on strengthening competency-based learning for healthcare professionals. His work explores the use of simulation methodologies in obstetrics, gynecology, and emergency maternal and newborn care training to improve clinical skills, patient safety, and healthcare outcomes in low-resource settings.
