Patrick Chelangat

Lecturer


Dr. Patrick Chelangat is a distinguished lecturer of Pharmacology at the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Medicine, Gulu University. He joined Gulu University as a Lecturer in 2024 having previously served at Makerere University as a research coordinator and an assistant lecturer. Patrick is very passionate researcher having coordinated a clinical trial titled “Ivermectin-artemisinin Combination Therapy for Eradication of Malaria- IVIME” to completion at Makerere University, College of Health Sciences. He has also supervised thirty-four (34) undergraduate theses to completion and examined over ten (10) undergraduate and postgraduate theses. His areas of interest and expertise are Traditional Medicinal research, and Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacogenetics of infectious diseases especially HIV, TB, and malaria which still remain a big public health challenge globally especially in Low-Middle income countries like Uganda.

Dr. Patrick has undergone several research and other capacity-building trainings at both National and International levels, the most recent one being the China-Uganda Silk Road Pharmaceutical training held at Chongqing College of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, China from October to November, 2025.
Dr. Patrick is also a curriculum review expert at Uganda National Council of Higher Education and Uganda Allied Health Professionals Council.
