Message from Head of Department

The Department of Computer Science is the largest of the six departments in the Faculty of Science. The department was established in 2003 with one programme (Diploma in Computer Science). To date the Department runs five programmes: BSc. Computer Science (GCS); BSc. Computer Science – Gaming and Animation Technology (GAT); Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology (GIT); Bachelor of Information Technology – Business Computing (BBC); and Master of Science in Information and Communications Technology for Development (MID). However, the department continues to diversify into new programmes as demanded in the mainstream ICT industry.

The vision of the Department of Computer Science is to provide access to higher education and conduct quality professional training for the delivery of appropriate services directed towards community transformation and the conservation of biodiversity. Her mission is to be a pillar for academic, professional and sustainable development. The department’s core values follow the guiding principles of Gulu University’s core values of professionalism, integrity, effectiveness and efficiency, accountability, and transparency.
