Okot Patrick holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Mathematics from Makerere University and a Master of Science Degree in Information Systems from Makerere. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Science at the Faculty of Science, Gulu University. He is an ICT lecturer, consultant, practitioner and researcher with over ten years of experience and is well acquainted with the latest developments in the ICT industry in Uganda and beyond.
As a researcher, Okot has done a number of community outreach activities that created an impact in the community include training, Database &App development, mapping (GIS & Remote Sensing), website design, development and maintenance, amongst others.Okot has alsopublished research works in peer reviewed journals that include: Site Selection Model for Urban Solid Waste Disposal Management using GIS & Remote Sensing: A case of Gulu Municipality (2019); Information and Communication Technology usage in post-conflict maternal healthcare: Northern Uganda Referral hospital perspective (2019), and The Impact of ICT on Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Gulu (2008).
He currently works at Gulu University as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science. He joined Gulu Universityas a Teaching Assistant in September 2006 after graduating with his BSc. (Hons), then became a graduate trainee in 2009 then joined Makerere University for his Master’s degree,and later in October 2017was promoted to Assistant Lecturer.Okot has a passion for Computer Information Systems where the majority of his research and interests lie. His major interest is in the area of health information systems (e-Health).
