Gulu University Selects 40 Outstanding Scholars for TAGDev 2.0 Cohort 3
Twenty (20) undergraduate and twenty (20) postgraduate students selected following a rigorous and inclusive scholarship selection process
Gulu University has announced the selection of 40 scholars for Cohort 3 of the TAGDev 2.0 Scholarship Programme for the 2026/2027 academic year, marking another important milestone in the University’s commitment to expanding access to transformative higher education and preparing young people to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s agricultural transformation.
The new cohort comprises 20 undergraduate and 20 postgraduate scholars who were selected through a rigorous, competitive and evidence-based process designed to identify young people with strong leadership potential while prioritising socio-economic vulnerability and inclusion.
The selection process began with the applications for both university admission and scholarship, followed by eligibility screening, university admission, psychometric assessment, leadership and vulnerability assessment, information verification and physical home validation before the final selection of the 40 scholars. The process was designed to ensure that scholarship opportunities reached deserving young people while maintaining transparency, fairness and inclusivity.
Particular attention was given to leadership potential and socio-economic vulnerability, with assessments considering factors such as leadership qualities, entrepreneurship, attitudes towards agriculture, household living conditions, income diversity, school-fees burden, experience with shocks and the ability of households to cope with shocks.
The selected cohort comprises 25 female and 15 male scholars, with representation of refugees/Internally Displaced Persons and differently abled scholars, reinforcing TAGDev 2.0’s commitment to inclusive and equitable access to higher education.
