Bishop Loum urges Gulu University Staff not to Conform to the Pattern of this World.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Northern Uganda, Rev. Godfrey Loum has urged the Staff of Gulu University not to conform to the pattern of this world but rather be transformed by the renewing of their minds in all they do, cited from the book of Romans 12:2.
The Bishop made this call during his first pastoral visit this year to Gulu University St. Paul Chapel Church of Uganda where he conducted Confirmation and Holy Communion services on Tuesday 7th May, 2024.
The pastoral visit was themed “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be Saved” taken from Acts of the Apostles 16:31.
The Gulu University Deputy Vice Chancellor In charge of Academic Affairs, Prof.David Okello Owiny and Chairperson Construction committee of the Chapel who represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Openjuru George Ladaah during the visit expresses joy saying when Rev. Loum was consecrated as Bishop, the first pastoral visit he made was at St. Paul’s Chapel.
Prof. Okello Owiny applauded Gulu University staff, St. Francis Church Makerere, and Christ Church USA for their immense contributions towards the construction of St. Paul’s Chapel which enabled them to complete the walling, fixing conduits on walls, connecting electricity, and designing the window frames.
He however, said resource mobilization is still going on and called on people of good-will to give more support to fully complete the construction of the chapel.
Prof. Owiny confirmed to the Bishop that the University is doing very well and peaceful adding that God has a hand in it.
Mr. Asaf Adebua, Director Planning at Gulu University who doubles as chairperson council of Gulu University St Paul Chapel as well as Chair organizing Committee for the visit at St. Paul’s chapel also appreciated the University staff for making the day a success.
The Chaplain St. Paul Chapel Rev. Opio Samuel Francis on the other hand expressed gratitude to the staff of Gulu University and well-wishers for their enormous support towards the Bishop’s visit and encouraged everyone to continue giving a helping hand to finish the construction of the chapel.
