Gulu University Students undergo Internship Placement training

Gulu University students from Faculty of Business and Development Studies have undergone training in preparation for a crucial learning phase aimed at equipping them with practical field experience through internship placements.
The internship orientation and training session that took place on 1st June, 2026 at the University Main Campus was led by the Faculty Dean Assoc. Prof. Kenneth Olido, together with the Internship Coordinator, Kalo Ojok. The engagement sought to prepare students for their transition from classroom learning to real-world work environments.
During the training, students were sensitized on the purpose and importance of internships in their academic and professional development. The facilitators emphasized that field practice provides an opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge acquired in class, gain practical skills, and develop competencies that are essential in today’s competitive job market.

The session focused on helping students understand workplace expectations, professional conduct, and the responsibilities they will undertake during their internship period. Participants were also guided on effective communication, teamwork, time management, and ethical behavior in professional settings.
Students who had previously undertaken internships shared their experiences, offering valuable insights into the realities of the workplace. Through these interactions, participants discussed common challenges encountered during field placements and explored practical strategies for overcoming them.
The discussions further highlighted the importance of adaptability, professionalism, and continuous learning while in the field. Students were encouraged to maintain positive attitudes, respect organizational cultures, and make the most of the opportunities available to them during their placements.
