Dean of Students
Welcome back students, families, faculty, and staff!
The Dean of Students Office is open and available in person to serve students, faculty, staff, parents/families, and community members during its regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). Staff members are also available by phone or email. Below are details on how to connect with the Dean of Students staff to seek support and assistance.
DoS staff members are available to individually support students and help manage any disruptions to their experience. Staff members can also talk with parents/families, faculty, and staff about resources and support available and can work together to develop a plan for student assistance.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Department of Dean of Students derives its mandate from Section 37 of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, 2001 (As amended 2003, 2006).
Dean of Students Department, Gulu University
Our Mandate: Primary advocates for students in the University and responsible for ALL non-academic related matters as follows:
1. Student welfare and discipline.
2. Promote a campus environment which cultivates a sense of belonging. Provide opportunities for students to develop essential life skills. Create opportunities for students to integrate curricular and co-curricular learning.
3. Accredit and advise on student accommodation by mediating between facility owners and students for affordable and acceptable services.
4. Mitigate student conflict.
5. Guide the operations of Student Guild and sports activities.
6. Supervise and manage student health and sanitation services.
7. Supervise and manage student’s psychosocial life by offering needed support through
counseling and spiritual guidance.
8. Managing and coordinating sports activities.
9. Act as liaison between students and university management.
10. Manage all student associations.
