University of Rwanda partners with Gulu under the BSU IV Project

Gulu University Management led by Prof.Openjuru George Ladaah in October,28th,2024 sealed collaborations with the University of Rwanda whose delegation was led by Associate Professor, Aggee Shyaka Mugabe.

In this collaboration, the University of Rwanda is the twinning partner to Gulu University to implement the Building Stronger University Phase Four project (BSU IV) until 2028.
Major areas of collaboration in this partnership center around join Research and Publications, Faculty and Student’s Exchange, Organising Conferences, Examining and Supervising Graduate Students among others.

Prof.Openjuru George Ladaah welcomed the team to Gulu and promised the delegation from Rwanda that Gulu shall have collaborations with them beyond the BSU IV project because universities in Africa need to collaborate although he was also quick to note that Rwanda and northern Uganda share conflict historical background.

Associate Professor, Aggee thanked the university team for the warm welcome and committed that they are set to collaborate with Gulu University beyond the project scope as part of twining Africa and East African universities in the area of knowledge and research sharing among others.

This collaboration shall see the Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies (IPSS) of Gulu University connect primarily with the Centre for Conflict Management (CCM) of the University of Rwanda under the Building Stronger University Project. (BSU IV)

BSU IV is a Danida Funded project currently focusing on Lifelong Education and new ways of learning: Problem-based learning, hybrid and eLearning, secondly the project is also looking at Sustainable Development and Climate Change Mitigation: Innovation, education and community engagement.

The project also mirrors Post-conflict Policies and practices: Hosts and Refugees, Transitional Justice; and Health and Technologies: Health Rights and Changing Gender Relationships.
