Live in peace with each other, Prof. Openjuru tells newly recruited staff.
The Vice Chancellor of Gulu University, Prof. Openjuru George Ladaah has advised the newly recruited staff of the University to rid themselves of bitterness and live in peace with each other at all times.
This call was made during the induction training of the new staff conducted on Wednesday 22 May, 2024 at the New University Library.
“You hurt yourself, you hurt your health, and may die. I have seen people die out of bitterness. There are some whom I counseled that please, be calm, the world is not ending tomorrow but they refused to listen and indeed their world ended, “Prof. Openjuru said.
The VC said comically that the staff should not harm themselves fighting for promotions, leaving the entire house in laughter.
“Do not crash yourselves into pieces over promotions. If you can’t get promoted, exit and look for opportunities elsewhere. The world is so big with many opportunities,” he said.
The Gulu University Secretary David Obol Otori urged the staff to exhibit high level of professionalism and integrity as they work towards achieving the vision, mission and objectives of the University which is centred towards community transformation.
The newly recruited staff were sworn in by the Gulu High court Chief Magistrate, His Worship Barigye Said who called upon them to embrace team work.
