Gulu University US launches ‘Keep Campus Clean’ drive

The Gulu University Secretary, David Obol Otori has launched a ‘Keep Campus Clean’ drive, the first of its kind in the history of the University.

Mr. Otori said the initiative launched on Wednesday 11 September, 2024 is aimed at maintaining cleanliness and general ambience in the University, adding that the joint cleaning exercise will run in the different faculties, institutes and the entire university.

The US confirmed management commitment in ensuring a conducive environment for teaching and learning of all students and staff, and that according to him can only be done by keeping good hygiene at the university which also creates a safe and healthy space for visitors at the higher institution of learning.

The drive which was launched from the university yesterday saw over 80 members actively participating in keeping the hygiene of the university by collecting litters on the compound, repositioning waste bins and putting them in order, trimming overgrown flowers and trees, and slashing among other activities.

The participating members led by the US included some members of management, Cultas Investment-a contractor managing compound maintenance of the university, casual workers, estates staff, university custodians, Laboratory attendants, Hall attendants, Library attendants and Office attendants drawn from different faculties and institutes.

The drive is expected to run for a week and continues routine maintenance to keep the hygiene of the university will then take shape.
