The visit, filled with curiosity and excitement, gave the pupils a rare opportunity to experience university life firsthand. Moving through lecture halls, libraries, and key facilities, the children were introduced to the role of a university not just as a centre for higher learning, but as a hub for research, innovation, and community development.
Guided by university staff and student volunteers, the pupils engaged in interactive sessions where complex ideas were broken down into simple, relatable concepts. For many of them, it was their first time stepping into a university environment, an experience that sparked ambition and broadened their understanding of future educational pathways.

Speaking during the tour, one of the coordinators emphasized the importance of early exposure to higher education. “When young learners see what is possible, it shapes their dreams. We want them to know that a university is not a distant place, it is something they can aspire to and be part of.”
Teachers from Gulu Primary School expressed appreciation for the university’s participation, noting that such visits complement classroom learning and motivate pupils to take their studies seriously. “This experience has made education more real to them. They can now visualize where hard work can take them,” one teacher remarked.

By nurturing young minds and demystifying university education, the institution continues to plant seeds of aspiration among the youth in northern Uganda.
