Gulu University has successfully elected two Senate Representatives to the University Council. The election was carried out during the 68th Meeting of the University Senate on Friday 8th August, 2025 from the University New Library.
Dr. Stella Laloyo Apecu, Chief Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies was nominated and went unopposed for female representative. Meanwhile, Mr. William Noah Olwoch-Lalobo, Ministerial Appointee to Senate was declared winner for male representative by the Returning Officer Mr. Paul Oboke, Principal Asst. Academic Registrar In charge of Admissions.

Mr. Lalobo scored 17 votes against his competitor Dr. Denis Thaddeus Ofoyuru, Dean Faculty of Education and Humanities who got 9 votes. A total of 26 senate members voted with all their votes considered valid.
Dr. Laloyo who went unopposed appreciated the senators for trusting her and pledged full commitment to serve Gulu University in the 6th Council.

On the other hand, Mr. Olwoch-Lalobo promised to strengthen collaboration between the university and key stakeholders in the education sector with his wide network as a Ministerial Appointee to Gulu University Senate.
