Gulu University signs MOU with HoGent University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Belgium.
Gulu University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HoGent University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Belgium.
The Gulu University Vice Chancellor Prof. George Ladaah Openjuru and Dr. Robin Stephens, Director of Education Office at HoGent University signed the MOU on Tuesday 26th August from Gulu University in the presence of witnesses from both institutions.

The MOU will see the two institutions collaborate in areas of Student exchange programmes, visits by and exchange of staff for research, teaching and discussions, Collaborative research activities and Exchange of study opportunities on strategic areas.
The high-level delegation from Ghent University Association was led by Prof. Mieke Van Herreweghe, Vice Rector of Ghent University. Other guests from the association included dignitaries from HoGent University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and Howest University of Applied Sciences under the Institutional University Cooperation (IUC) project.

Dr. Collins Okello, Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Environment said these collaborations will open ways for more stronger collaborations in the near future between Gulu University band Ghent University Association, Belgium.
“So many of us have already benefitted from Ghent University including Gulu University Senior Lecturer Dr. Solomon Olum who did his PhD from Ghent and they want to further that collaboration,” said Dr. Okello.

Assoc. Prof. Duncan Ongeng, the coordinator IUC Project Gulu University said he is pleased with how this collaboration is progressing into a stronger and much better one suggesting a focus on deepening ties between the two institutions.
“This convening is as a result of long-term collaboration which started at student level and graduated to staff level and that’s why the team from Ghent University Association is here to forge a stronger collaboration between Ghent and Gulu University,” says Assoc. Prof. Ongeng.

Prof. George Ladaah Openjuru, the Gulu University Vice Chancellor welcomed the delegation and pledged his full support to keep the relationship going not only between Gulu University and HoGent University but with the broader Ghent University Association.
The IUC programme is a cornerstone initiative designed to forge long-term partnerships between universities in our partner countries and Flemish higher education institutions. This 10-year collaboration aims to empower partner universities to fulfil their roles as driver of change for global sustainable development in its country and region.
IUC projects focus on strengthening educational and research capacities via different academic theme based sub-projects, as well as improved institutional performance via transversal institutional strengthening sub-projects.
