Gulu University attends the Women’s Day Celebration at Kololo


On 08/03/2026, a delegation from Gulu university was proud to witness the signing of three important documents during the women’s day celebrations at Kololo ceremonial grounds. The launch of the second national action plan on the elimination of gender-based violence, the gender equal climate action strategy and the national strategy on ending female genital mutilation 2026 – 2031 the documents were signed by the vice president of Uganda honorable Jessica Allupo, the prime minister honorable Robina Nabanja and other partners. These documents are geared towards ending violence against women and girls.

Running under the theme ‘Scaling up Investment to Accelerate Access to Justice for all Women and Girls in Uganda’. International Women’s Day is more than a celebration; it is a movement. It reminds the world that achieving gender equality requires collective responsibility.
In her address as the Guest of Honor, the Vice President emphasized that justice for women is unavoidably linked to economic independence. She urged both public and private sector leaders to move beyond persuasive speaking and implement tangible financial and structural changes.
As the 2026 celebrations concluded, the Vice President issued a direct challenge on members of parliament and judges to “accelerate access to justice” by ensuring that the legal system is responsive to the specific needs of women and girls.
