Gulu University Convocation Sworn In
Gulu University’s first convocation executive committee members led by Pastor Joseph Okidi were successfully sworn into office on Thursday, December, 5th 2024 from the Gulu University Council boardroom in a function presided over by His Worship, Muyunga Ashiraf, the Gulu Grade One Magistrate.
The Chairperson, Pr. Joseph Okidi, expressed his commitment to working closely with the University Administration and stakeholders to foster a vibrant and united Convocation. He outlined a vision of leveraging alumni engagement to support key University projects and create impactful programs for the benefit of all members.
In his keynote address, Prof. David Okello Owiny reiterated the Administration’s unwavering support for the alumni fraternity and urged the new leaders to lay a strong foundation for GUCO’s future. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in fostering a united and impactful Convocation.
Prof. Okello Owiny appealed to the sworn in members to work hard because the biggest agenda of the convocation is to support the university’s growth and development.

Charting a New Path for Convocation.
After the swearing-in, the Executive Committee held its inaugural meeting to chart the course for the Convocation’s future. Discussions revolved around mobilizing alumni to join GUCO, strengthening the relationship between the University and its alumni, and launching initiatives that will enhance Gulu University’s growth and development.
The swearing-in of GUCO’s first Executive Committee marks the beginning of a transformative chapter for Gulu University’s alumni body. Under the leadership of the newly inaugurated team, the Convocation aims to build a strong platform that empowers alumni, fosters collaboration, and contributes meaningfully to the institution’s legacy.
Gulu University Convocation is a statutory body established under Section 70 of the University and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, Cap 262.
