Gulu University Vice Chancellor Closed CIRHT Conference at Acholi Inn Hotel


Prof. Openjuru, George Ladaah, the Gulu University Vice-Chancellor has on Friday evening officially closed from Acholi Inn hotel, Gulu City the three days 3rd International Sextual and Reproductive Health Rights Conference, calling it visionary towards Gulu University transformational agenda as an engaged community university.
He said the University is grateful to the Center for International Reproductive Health Training at the University of Michigan in the United States of America (CIRHT) for the long-term collaborations that started in 2020. He said the collaboration has built the profile of Gulu University towards championing matters of sextual and Reproductive Health Rights both in pre-service training research and community engagement on the said matter.
Prof. Openjuru also assured the CIRHT team that the university has developed sustainability mechanism to the project by putting ensuring that the simulation and audio-visual studio are integrated in to the university planning including recruiting some of the project staff on permanent basis.


“The university has through the production studio produced 100 educational videos and 50 virtual lectures on sextual and reproductive health including having published 15 articles in peered reviewed journals”. Openjuru said.
He also recognized Dr Pebalo Pebolo Francis for the hard work in organizing the conference and keeping a strong link with the partner on behalf of Gulu university.
“Dr Pebalo Pebolo Francis and Dr Bongomin Felix all great researchers from Faculty of Medicine have been recognized nationally as the best scientists in the country but Regionally on reproductive health, Dr Pebalo is also leading with evidence of community women giving positive testimonies while delivering babies under his care”. Openjuru said.
The closure of the three days conferences also saw the researchers awarded by CIRTH Executive Director and the Vice chancellor for best oral and poster presentations
