Gulu University in partnership with Muni University as a lead partner, Bishop Stuart University, Community Empowerment for Rural Development (CEFORD), PALM Corps, Young African Refugees for Integral Development (YARID), Meeting Point Kitgum, Dan Church Aid (DCA), and Finn Church Aid (FCA) all known as the consortium members, received funding from Mastcard Foundation (also known as the partner) and are implementing the Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI) project. This project is designed to tackle the prevalent unemployment challenges faced by young individuals aged 15–35 years in 15 refugee-hosting districts in West Nile, Northern, and South-western Uganda.
The goal of the project is to support 100,000 financially disadvantaged young people (70% refugees, 30% host community youth, 3% youth with special needs) from 15 Districts to access market relevant education and skills and to transition 70,000 young people, (70% young women) to dignifying and fulfilling work such that they become economically resilient and able to sustain their lives, families, and communities.
Gulu University is mandated to reach a total number of 11,367 young people from the three Refugee Hosting districts of Gulu, Lamwo and Kiryandongo. To achieve this, the University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions under the Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI) Project.

Position: Project Assistants
The Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI)” project seeks to recruit 3 Project Assistants as follows:
1) Project Assistant for Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL),
2) Project Assistant Gender, Safeguarding and Communication and
3) Project Assistant General RETI activities.
Reports To: Project Manager (Reti Project)
Duty Station: Kiryandongo, Gulu, Lamwo And Obongi, Uganda
Languages: English, Luo, Lugbara/Madi

Purpose of the Job
The Project Assistant will be an integral part of the project team, providing essential support in the planning, implementation, MEAL, Gender and Safeguarding and Communication under the RETI project. These roles will require a strong entrepreneurial and business-oriented individual, with a passion for community development and youth empowerment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
I. Works closely with the project manager to develop detailed project plans, budgets, and work schedules.
II. Assists in the execution of project activities, workshops, and training sessions.
III. Collects and compile data related to project activities and beneficiaries.
IV. Captures lessons and success stories
V. Assists in analyzing project data to evaluate progress and impact.
VI. Works closely with project beneficiaries, including youth in refugee and host communities, to facilitate their involvement in project activities.
VII. Builds strong relationships with community members to ensure their active participation and feedback.
VIII. Provides technical support in project activities related to agriculture, vocational training, and skill-building.
IX. Collaborates with project partners to deliver relevant training and capacity-building programs.
X. Assists with administrative tasks, such as organization of data, financial tracking, and logistics for project events.
XI. Supports project staff in organizing meetings, workshops, and outreach activities.
XII. Maintains accurate project records, including reports, documentation of activities, and beneficiary profiles.
XIII. Contributes to the preparation of project progress reports.
XIV. Participates in real-time communication
