Prof. Odongo-Aginya Emmanuel Igwaro

Professor


Prof Odongo-Aginya was born to Enriko Igwaro and Juliet Oyella of Lukwir Lukwor village in Lalogi sub-county; Omoro district, Northern Uganda on 25 December 1949 and was married to Domitilla Rerea(late). His family is blessed with Five Children. He started his educational life at Opit Catholic primary school; St. Mary Junior Anaka; and St. Joseph Senior Layibi College. Makerere University, University of London (LSHTM),
He Worked as a researcher in various research institutions in various ranks and has taught in various Medical Institutions and University Medical Schools. Currently he is working as a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology Department at the Faculty of Medicine of Gulu University.

As a scientist, he has published sixty-eight (68) scientific papers in peer review journals; Published a text book on the Immunology of Schistosoma mansoni (LAMBERT ACADEMIC PUBLISHING; ISBN 978-3-3-30-04848-5).

Prof. Aginya also had a remarkable breakthrough in his scientific research investigation where he was able to develop a patented, new diagnostic method in parasitology known as Odongo-Aginya method, patent number UG/UC/2014000001). Other job experience include consultancy with WHO and supervision of students of post graduate and undergraduate studies in Faculties of Medicine and Science at Gulu University. He enjoys reading Science books and novels. As a scientist, he also writes literal creative works.
