Openy Walter

Mr. Openy Walter is a Library Clerk as the Librarian at the Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies of Gulu University Library. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Information Science from Makerere University (2025-2027), a Bachelor of Library and Information Science from Kyambogo University (2024), a Diploma in Library and Information Studies from Kyambogo University (2012). He joined Gulu University in 2014 as a Library Assistant I at Gulu University Lacor Campus Medical, a Branch of the Faculty of Medicine Medical Library from 2014-2016, on a part-time basis Later Transferred to Faculty of Medical Library from 2016 – 2017 and Transferred to Technical and Order Division from 2017- 2018 and later transferred to Africana Special Collection from 2018- October 2019. In July,2019 applied for an Internal advert and was interviewed and appointed on a permanent appointment in November 2019 and confirmed into the service of the University in 2020. He held different positions in the University Library: Library Assistant I, 2019 – 2023, and Library Clerk, 2023 to date. Before joining the University, he worked in the libraries of various institutions, including as School Librarian at Gulu Institute of Health Science (2013-2014) and Librarian at Gulu Central Secondary School (2012-2014).
