Brihan Basajjabalaba

Lecturer


Dr. Brihan Basajjabalaba is a Lecturer Gulu University, Faculty of Law and an enrolled Advocate of the High Court of Uganda since 2015. He specialises in Commercial Law with substantive academic and professional experience in cross-border consumer protection within the East African Community, competition law, oil and gas law, and general legal practice in Uganda.

Dr. Basajjabalaba holds a PhD in Law (Research) from the University of Warwick and a Master’s degree in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom. He previously earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from Kampala International University, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, before his enrolment as an advocate of the High Court of Uganda and the subordinate courts.

He has taught a range of undergraduate modules across several institutions, including Kampala International University, the University of Warwick, Makerere University, and now Gulu University. His teaching experience spans key areas of Commercial Law and Public and Comparative Law, including Contract Law, Global Intellectual Property Law, International Trade and Business Law, Business Law, Administrative Law, Law of Torts, Fundamentals of Criminal Law, and Evidence Law.

Dr. Basajjabalaba’s academic training and diverse teaching, research, and administrative experience continue to inform and enrich his contribution to the Faculty of Law at Gulu University. His work is driven by a commitment to rigorous scholarship, professional excellence, and strengthening legal education in Uganda and the broader East African region
