Assistant ICT Officer


Dr. Akello Kalumera Christine is the Head and Officer in Charge of eLearning at Gulu University, where she leads initiatives to advance digital teaching and learning. She also lectures and coordinates research within the Department of Computer Science, and actively works with colleagues across different disciplines on multidisciplinary research projects.
Outside academia, Dr. Kalumera founded a youth mentorship think tank in 2020. Through these initiatives, she mentors young people on how to conduct research that solves community challenges. She is also an active member of the Makerere University Health Informatics Research Group and the ICT4D Postgraduate Network.

Research Interests

Dr. Kalumera is dedicated to harnessing technology to make healthcare better and more accessible. Her research in health informatics focuses on finding practical ways to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. Beyond this, she enjoys exploring multimedia technologies—like 3D design, interactive tools, animation, digital photography, and media design—as creative ways to enhance learning, communication, and the way people connect with information.
