Uganda National Council for Science and Technology–UNCST conducts reconnaissance visit to Gulu University
The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology–UNCST has conducted a reconnaissance visit to Gulu University as one of the key stakeholder institutions to engage its science professionals in regards to Homing of Science Professionals and Continuous Professional Development Programme.
The 3-member team who visited the university on Tuesday 23 rd July, 2024 included Deborah M. Kasule, Head Corporate Affairs and International Collaboration Division, Collins Tumusiime, Head International Collaborations Unit, and Namugenyi Loi Mirembe, Head Information and Documentation Services.
The UNCST team leader Kasule, said the main objective of this reconnaissance visit is to engage Gulu University as a key stakeholder, identify areas of synergy and share information that is relevant to this continuous professional development initiative.
The development initiative also aims at assessing existing facilities, resources, and capabilities among respective institutions with potential to support capacity building and homing of science professionals and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programs.
According to Kasule, this programme will also focus more to collaboratively plan for the respective stakeholders’ envisaged participation in the initiative.
The Vice Chancellor of Gulu University, Prof. George Openjuru Ladaah who appreciated UNCST for its tremendous job in ethical clearances welcomed this development initiative and encouraged the team to continue engaging the university and staff for a successful implementation.
The Uganda National Council for Science and Technology–UNCST is a government agency supervised by the Science, Technology, and Innovation Secretariat, Office of the President (STI- OP).
UNCST is mandated to among others, regulate all matters of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI), translate STI policies into regulations and standards, monitor and evaluate STI activity across all sectors of the economy, and promote the development of science professionals and professional institutions in Uganda.
