Bachelor of Arts with Education
This revised programme is hinged on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number four; to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Africa Vision 2063 also emphasizes quality of education under goal number two “Well educated citizens and skills revolution underpinned by science, technology and innovation”. In line with the Uganda National Development Plan’s strategic objective of transmitting general and applied knowledge as well as skills development under the broad social sectors of education and sports, and skills development, this programme is intended to address the problem of a high student-teacher ratio in secondary schools and to make education more accessible to the rapidly growing number of Diploma graduates with the need to further their professional development in Education. The programme name has been revised from Bachelor of Arts Education to Bachelor of Arts with Education, as the programme deals with the component of the Humanities and that of Education on equal footing. The revised name shows explicitly that there are two components in the curriculum. In addition, there is a need to harmonize the nomenclature in the country, as has already been proposed by the National Council for Higher Education.
