Gulu University VC meets President of NutriAfrica


On November 11th ,2025 the Vice Chancellor of Gulu University, Professor George. L. Openjuru met with Dr. Vincenzo Armini, President of NutriAfrica ODV (PhD student at the University of Naples “Federico II”), in the presence of academic staff, introduced the NutriMAS project.

The project involves the production of an alternative and sustainable Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food that aims to treat cases of Severe Acute Malnutrition without medical complications among children under -5 years old in communities, using local ingredients.

Specifically, the activities will include the installation of a medium-scale plant at Gulu University’s Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, optimising the production, and a community-based trial to evaluate the product’s acceptability and effectiveness.

The project aims to reduce the cost of treating malnourished children without complications in the communities, thereby contributing to the University’s mission of Community Transformation. This project is being implemented under a tripartite memorandum of understanding amongst Gulu University and two Italian organisations: NutriAfrica ODV and Selmi-Group Company
