Gulu University Taekwondo Club wins 4 trophies and 16 Gold Medals

Gulu University Taekwondo Club has won 4 trophies and 16 Gold Medals within a period of two months. The University Taekwondo Coach Mr. Andrew Ayella said these trophies and medals yielded from their participation in a series of tournaments in the months of May to June 2024.

The trophies were handed over to the Gulu University top management by the Taekwondo team this morning Monday 15 July 2024 from the University Council Boardroom.

According to Mr. Ayella, the club was awarded a trophy as Overall 2nd Runners Up in performance after obtaining 10 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze medals during the International Taekwondo Federation-ITF tournament in Pabbo sub-county Amuru district from 18 th to 19th May, 2024.

The University was also awarded two trophies as Winner Poomsae (Patterns) and Overall 2nd Runners Up during the Uganda Korean Ambassador Cup which took place from 1 st to 2 nd June, 2024 at Lugogo MTN Arena where the university obtained 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 5 Bronze medals.

The Gulu University club also received an award as Winner Poomsae with 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 12 Bronze medals during the Pabbo Open Taekwondo tournament organized by the Uganda Taekwondo Federation from 21 st to 23rd June 2024.

The Gulu University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Openjuru George Ladaah who received the awards together with other members of top management congratulated the team for their commitment and encouraged them to continue lifting the university flag higher. In total, Gulu University won 4 trophies and obtained 16 Gold, 12 Silver and 22 Bronze medals in the different tournaments it participated in this year.
