Semugenyi Patrick
GRC – Gov’t Sponsored Students/ State Minister for Academic Affairs.
Hon Semugenyi Patrick, is Fourth Year student from Faculty of Medicine doing Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Passionate about advocating for the human rights and providing efficient medical care to the patients as well. The passion for human rights has driven him to go for various positions, to be able to represent the voices of the people.
Hon Semugenyi’s leadership journey is an interesting one as it has seen him elected twice as Government Students Representative to the Guild. His first time in the Guild Council, Semugenyi was elected as the Deputy Speaker, a position he held until he ran for his second term in office as a GRC – Government Sponsored Students which he won again, this time being appointed as the State Minister for Academic Affairs. Prior to these, he was secretary for international affairs Gulu university medical students’ association (GUMSA), deputy speaker faculty of medicine students’ Association (FOMESA) council, vice chairperson Baganda Nkobazambogo student’s association Gulu university (BANKOSA-GU).
In all these, Semugenyi believes that, serving students’ body is all about advocating for the fair university policies and promoting unity amongst the students themselves.
