Mr. Kiduma has over 15 years’ experience in Project and Research Management, and has been the Gulu University Research Ethics Committee (GUREC) Administrator since 2017. He has a deep understanding of local and international regulations governing ethical research in clinical and non-clinical disciplines, and is currently responsible for the day to day operations of GUREC activities. He has a solid background in Administration and financial management.
He has effectively coordinated the ethical review process of over 1,000 local and foreign research protocols. He contributed to the development of the National Research Information Management System (NRIMS) and is a pioneering Administrator in the use and navigation of the NRIMS. Subsequently, he has trained and supported reviewers, investigators, graduate interns and regional RECs in the use of NRIMS for effective and efficient research ethical reviews.
Robert has worked as Project and Research Administrator for strategic large and medium multi-disciplinary collaborative research projects funded by multilateral global funding agencies (Danida, National Institute of Health -U.S.A, Wellcome Trust -UK, NORHED-Norway, VLIR-UOS-Belgium, AHRC-MRC-UK, UNDP, DFG-Germany, Bioinnovate Africa, etc.), and contributed to ensuring that the high levels of research ethical standards demanded by the funders and collaborative partners are complied with including financial prudence. He works closely with investigators, researchers, reviewers, regulators, publishers, research funders, the participating community, system administrators and regulators to ensure adherence with the standards of conducting ethical research thereby improving the quality of research and research outcomes.
