Betty Alanyo joined Gulu University Library services in 2009 to date. She has served in various departments within the Library. She possesses a strong understanding of Library Management, IT skills and day-to-day running of a modern Library. Betty attained a Master’s Degree of Science in Information Science from Makerere University, and a Bachelor’s Degree of Library and Information Science with a second upper class from the same University. She obtained a Diploma in Library and Information science from Kyambogo University in 2003. Betty consistently believes in taking challenges and exploring novel and ingenious concepts to improve library efficiency. Betty has acquired both International and local trainings in Library Professionalism and has attained among others: Certificate in Professional Development program for the next generation African Library and Information professionals, from the University of Pretoria in South Africa; Certificate for successfully completing a training in Digital Library Practices and Information Technology Application for Advanced Knowledge Management, at Fluid Control Research Institute, Palakkad, Kerala, India. She secured another certificate of completion in the, 2018 Global Value Chains and Green Trade workshop sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, the people’s Republic of China. Betty worked as an Intern at the Parliamentary Library of Uganda and Law Development Center Library. She has served as a college Librarian at Kampala Evangelical School of Theology and Gaba Bible College before joining Gulu University Services (2003 – 2008).
