Gulu University Council meet with Minister over Land in Moroto

Gulu University Council delegation on the 1st December 2021 met with the State Minister of Works and Transport, Hon: Musa Ecweru where they handed him a council resolution finally allowing 13 acres of land belonging to the University constituent college in Moroto for a regional Construction material testing Laboratory.

This was agreed at, considering the request made by the Ministry to the University with strong emphasis that the Laboratory will provide much needed testing services to the construction industry within the subregion and complained that the said land located at Lokaburu, Nadunget subcounty originally belonged to the Ministry of Works and Transport before it was unknowingly included   as part of Gulu University Constituent College, Moroto.

Ms Theresa Obbo, the Gulu University Council chairperson led the delegation that comprised of Rwot Apire Santos, the vice-chair of the council and team of Gulu University top management led by Associate Professor, Okello David Owiny, the deputy Vice-Chancellor and other officials from Ministry of Education and sports.

The team all agreed that the official handover of the land by the University to the Ministry would take place in two weeks’ time.

Hon Musa Ecweru the Minister of State for Works and Transport thanked Gulu University for demonstrating institutional maturity on the matter since the testing laboratory would benefit both the Ministry and Gulu University Constituent College in Moroto.

Gulu University council had earlier sat on the 25th of November 2021 and decided on the matter based on Public-to-public mutual agreement to promote development for the community and the subregion.
