Danish ICT scholars advises on Student-Centered e-Learning implementation methodology

Danish Information and Communication Technology scholars have advised that there is need for Gulu University Management to embrace student –centered electronic learning implementation strategy as a big force in getting both the students and the teachers on board for successful implementation of the current famous eLearning techniques.

According to the schorlas, both the teachers and the students need competence development where, the teachers would be learning designer and students would be co-learning designer since their interface with them between August 30th and September 24th  2021 revealed so in their plea to improvement of the eLearning in the University.

Lone Dirckinck Holmfeld professor of ICT and learning from University of Aalborg, Denmark and Dr Heillyn Camacho   an independent researcher on ICT made the remarks during their presentation on Student –Centered e-learning implementation methodology –lessons learned to Gulu University top Management from the University Council boardroom on Monday morning.

In their recommendations, they advised the University management to improve on the internet connectivity issuses, access, data and electricity as infrastructural component that needs address since they were raised by both the University teaching staff and the students during their findings.

The scholars also highly recommended continued inter-disciplinary collaboration between the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, Library and Academic Support to facilitate user centered eLearning implementation.

Dr Jerry Bagaya the Gulu University Academic Registrar welcomed the report and thanked the BSU team for having brought the report timely to the attention of management.

 

The stakeholder workshop for top managament was organised by Gulu University- Building Stronger University phase three project under its objective on ‘‘Development of research-based models for teacher professional development in ICT and learning’’.
