MasterCard Foundation Introduces their Partners to the Media in Uganda.

MasterCard Foundation in Uganda on November 28th 2023 in a unique way introduced their Partners including the initiatives they are implementing in Uganda during a strategic Media Roundtable engagement that took place from 4 Point by Sheraton Hotel in Kampala for half day.

Rita Laura Lulua the Head of Education and Workforce Development at MasterCard Foundation made some detailed presentations on the initiatives the partners are implementing countrywide.

Among them include MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University, which empowers academically young people in Africa to access university education and transform into enterprising leaders. It has already supported the graduation of 790 students.

BRAC Uganda is also another Partner of MasterCard Foundation according to the presentations by Rita, where it supports the young people with the Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) to allow employability in innovative sectors, promoting the concept of self-employment. As MasterCard Foundation Partner, BRAC Uganda is proud to have at least 140 young person’s employing themselves.

Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Africa (RUFORUM)-Gulu University is another Partner of MasterCard Foundation which direct focus in Agriculture also known as Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully Contribute to Africa’s Growth and Development. This MasterCard Foundation Partner initiative is on record for supporting the famous Gulu University Student-Centered Outreach Model and Agri-business Innovation. This iniativetive is famous for having facilitated 330,000 farmers in accessing innovative agricultural technologies and value chain with over 240 starts up of the 560 young people who accessed university through the program.

Meanwhile, MasterCard Foundation Uganda introduced Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda as their partners who have labored to ensure students who perform fairly in certain subjects in Uganda with only one Principal Pass during sittings at Uganda National Advance Certificate of Education have a chance of pursuing a University degree through the Higher Education Access Certificate already accredited by Government of Uganda and being implemented in about 11 Universities.

Muni University and War Child Canada surfaced as partners supporting education with the refugees and the host communities with TVET and entrepreneurial business training respectively among other partners.

The journalists asked all the questions about the partners and were answered majorly during the media dialogue with seasoned journalists like Dalton Kaweesa News Manager at NBS TV, Prof. Anthony Egeru Manager Training and Community Development at RUFORUM, Jolly Okumu Scholars Program Manager at MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University among others.
